The legendary Sunday Joint has now been playing host to some of the greatest jazz, Latin, funk & salsa bands for the past 15 years – If you haven’t been yet, now is the chance to see what you’ve been missing!!
Serving up a blend of home cooked food between 12 noon & 4.00pm, The Sunday Joint also features 3 live bands every week – one through lunch, another between 5pm & 6pm and the evening session band appearing onstage at 10.30pm – alongside resident DJs MJ Soul and Noah Ball who play Soul, Funk & Hip Hop into the early hours!
12 Noon until 3.00am
Afternoon band onstage between 1.00pm and 4.00pm,
Mid session band onstage between 5.00pm and 6.00pm
With the evening band onstage at 10.30pm.
We are now introducing a brand new Sunday Mid Sessions f where we will be having acoustic artists performing between the afternoon and evening performances. Lunchtime – The Tombo Trio With Taz Modi (piano), Chris Hargreaves (bass) and Kris Wright (drums).
Evening – The Grand Wazoo The Grand Wazoo are one of the premier jazz samba bands in the UK. In their short existence, they've played to thousands at the Edinburgh Live8 rally, supported sax legend Courtney Pine, and gathered a faithful local fan base. Devoted to the music of Brazil, they play classics from the likes of Airto, Marcos Valle, Jobim, Joyce, Jorge Ben and many others, as well as excavating lesser-known treasures and arranging them all in their own unique way.

Lunchtime – Stevie Williams Trio
Evening – Stevie Williams Heavily Bass driven funk outfit from Manchester. The band display a tight punchy sound with Williams both the engine room and a creative soloist, whether playing long, lithe lines or punching out the rhythm with machine-gun precision. This band is generally seen as one of the best emerging bands of its type featuring some of Manchesters’ top Jazz instrumentalists.

Lunchtime – Alegria Musica Trio featuring the amazing Caroviolina who is one of the UK’s premier violinists and Davide Munoz (The Supremes) & Kenny Higgins (Corinne Bailey-Rae)
Evening – TM Juke and The Jake Baker Trio A collaboration made in heaven, TM Juke And The Jack Baker Trio bring you pure dancefloor gold, with influences from soul, swing, samba and percussion you can’t stand still to. Life on the road can be more than just getting drunk and throwing radiators out of hotel windows, it seems; new musical ideas can even arise. TM Juke and Jack Baker were on tour with the Alice Russell band, spending half their lives, hung-over, in airports or in the back of vans, cataloguing songs that could be remixed into a South American fashion, and Lo! their project was born.

Lunchtime – James O'Hara Former leader of the Giantkillers, James brings his new band for some ace R&B songs and Funk delights.
Evening – Ashley Thomas Jailing from Southampton, Ashley Thomas was raised on a idet of diverse music, absorbing the sounds of Stevie Wonder, Steely Dan, James Brown, Prince, Marvin Gaye, David Bowie, Miles Davis, Jimi Hendrix, Herbie Hancock and Parliament to name just a few. He started playing drums at an early age, quickly followed by a guitar, bass and later, piano. After moving to London to concentrate on becoming a professional musician, various major record / publishing companies seized on his talent for writing addictive songs; however, a broader, more underground approach appealed to his sensibilities. He set about combining the quality of 60s / 70s soul & funk with the more contemporary sounds of Broken Beat and Nu-Jazz.
